CANBERRA BLUES SOCIETY

Supporting local blues music since 1997

Formed in 1997 by a few local blues musicians - we strive to
promote good feeling blues music & local blues musicians within
the Canberra Region. At Canberra Blues Society, we run regular
Jams, Jam Workshops & Special Events for everyone to enjoy.

Positions Vacant

The growth of the Canberra Blues Society, both in terms of membership and the events that we stage and support needs to be matched by a growth in our administrative capability and systems. In recognition of this, at the last AGM our constitution was updated to include two new roles on the committee, the Digital Media Officer and the Volunteer Coordinator. We want you to consider whether you might make a contribution to the CBS in support of these roles.

    19-TWENTY - Hips 10 Year Anniversary Tour

19-TWENTY CELEBRATE 10 YEARS OF “HIPS” AT HARMONIE GERMAN CLUB SATURDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER
CANBERRA, WE’RE BACK – AND LOUDER THAN EVER

Canberra, you’ve felt it before – now get ready to feel it again. On Saturday 27th September, 19-Twenty return to the mighty Harmonie German Club to unleash the full force of their "Hips Tour", celebrating 10 years of the track that sparked a nationwide movement – “Hips.”

Known for turning this room into a pressure cooker of dancing bodies, wild riffs, and pure energy, 19-Twenty are back to do it all again – but this time, it’s personal. A decade ago, “Hips” hit the stage and changed everything. Now, it’s getting the birthday blowout it deserves.

The Harmonie German Club has always been one of our favourite stops – the energy in that room is next-level,” says frontman Kane Dennelly. “We can’t wait to bring the ‘Hips’ party back to Canberra. Let’s make it even bigger than last time.

Expect breakneck blues, roots-fuelled rock, and the kind of unrelenting live show that’s made 19-Twenty a ‘can’t-miss band’ for fans across the country.

ERIC GALES (USA) @ The Zeppelin Room

Blues powerhouse Eric Gales will return to Australia this November for a full national tour and Canberra Blues Society is absolutely stoked to be included in this tour. Special guest support: Karen Lee Andrews

A tour that will deliver the utmost combination of fiery guitar mastery and soul-stirring emotion. Five years sober and creatively reborn, Gales is riding high on the momentum of his masterful album Crown, produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith.

The Memphis born blues virtuoso has spent over 30 years and 18 albums reinvigorating the genre with his guitar excellence and bold songwriting. A child prodigy at just 16 years old with The Eric Gales Band, Eric has been praised by his peers and guitar legends the world over ever since.

Often hailed as the second coming of Jimi Hendrix, the Grammy Nominated Eric Gales has redefined blues playing with his rock swagger, searing guitar solos, heartfelt lyrics and a stage presence that absolutely commands your attention. He is boldly vulnerable, uncompromisingly political, unflinchingly confident and has absolutely earned his status as a true guitar hero.

Gales' latest album 2021's Crown is a bold, deeply personal statement. Born from raw emotion and introspective reflection, the album channels his journey from addiction and hardship to triumph and purpose. Tracks reflect on his struggles with substance abuse, his path to sobriety, and the pressing social issues that have defined his world.

"When I recorded Crown, I poured my heart out," says Gales. "Every note, every word is part of my story. Now, I get to bring that energy to Australia and connect with my awesome fans in the most powerful way possible, live on stage."

Don't miss your chance to witness the fire and fury of one of the most electrifying guitarists on the planet when Eric Gales and his extraordinary band roar into Canberra this November.

    Guest Support: KAREN LEE ANDREWS

Karen Lee Andrews is an artist who crosses boundaries and melds influences into an earthy, rich and dynamic sound. Her music feels like it could come from the Soulful Blues and Gospel-tinged Delta of the Mississippi, from the steamy Country bayous of Tennessee or the Rock highway of blue-collar
Philadelphia. Throw in her Polynesian heritage and what fans have discovered is a tapestry of stories that paint pictures that will captivate the spirit and the mind.

“Soulful and bluesy, with so much heart and pain, delivered with so much class.” - Sound of Oz
