Christmas is over. The New Year is upon us. And while there is no jam this month blues activity has been ongoing.
Our Xmas Party Blues Jam was an absolute corker, with a full house of merrymakers. Bonnie Kay & The Bonafides put on an excellent performance & I was honoured to be asked to join them onstage for a Jam. Thank you to all those who donated money & gifts to our Marymead Giving Tree. The gifts were dropped off to very grateful staff the day after the Jam.
It was such a pleasure to once again attend a Bucky’s Big Budweiser Birthday Bash at the Austrian Club on 9 January. There was of course no Bucky in body, but his spirit was strong and both the music and fundraising effort was fabulous. A record amount of just over $14,500 was raised for Rise Above Capital Region Cancer Support.
Covid 19 restrictions are coming and going and will of course continue to do so until widespread immunisation has occurred.
Meanwhile, Blues is unstoppable, finding its way into the cracks between restrictions and bursting into flower with the smallest encouragement. Huzzah!
Regular CBS activities will resume (COVID 19 restrictions allowing) in February with the re-energised Jam Workshop and the Monthly Blues Jam hosted by the fabulous Chris Harland Blues Band on schedule.
We have two very special events coming up – Fiona Boyes is doing a Keller Sessions Show on Saturday 30 January. This event is already SOLD OUT.
Blues Roulette are back on Thursday 4 February featuring Jimi ‘The Human’ Hocking & Frank Sultana. This will be the first time Jimi has played for us here at the HGC. Get your tickets before its ‘sold out’ too.
Looking forward to catching up and sharing the music with you all through the New Year.
A big shout out to Ali Penny and Dave Blanken from us all.
