How’s it going Blues fans?
Well, things haven’t hugely changed yet. There have been some changes but on the whole, it’s same, same.
Another short Pres Musing. And again, not a lot of good news to mention!
Firstly, our great friend and colleague Dave “Bucky” Buckmaster was admitted to hospital on Monday 1/6. Our thoughts are with him and his family.
The Australian Blues Music Festival which is usually held in February each year in Goulburn has been cancelled for 2021. A big blow to our local musicians & our Friday & Saturday night Blues Jams which have been so successful at the Festival.
Very sad news to hear our valued long time sponsor Beyond Q will shut its doors for good this Friday. A big thank you to Simon & Jenni for their ongoing support of CBS over the past 10 years.
It’s with deep regret we announce the cancellation of this year’s International Blues Music Day, which was to be held on 1st August at the Harmonie German Club.
We’re looking forward to getting back to business; and as soon as it’s safe to do so, we will be recommencing our monthly jams and jam workshops.
Thank you for your support during these difficult times.
On a brighter note, Old Canberra Inn has started having live music again with Moondog playing last Sunday. A few of our members were lucky enough to get a table. Ben Drysdale (Acoustic, Folk, Blues, Rock, & Reggae) is booked to play this coming Saturday 6 June from 2- 4pm. Numbers are strictly controlled to help everyone stay Covid safe, so booking a place and timeslot is essential; but from all reports a welcome change to the Covid experience.
Also our home, The Harmonie German Club has re-opened for food & drink service; so get your family or friends together, make a booking and get along to the restaurant and enjoy a Pork Knuckle and an ale or two.
Until next month, stay safe and sound.
