Hoping everyone out there is well and Covid safe.
Once again there is no great news apart from the sterling efforts of Kerry Sattler as she organises the Friday night events in the Keller. There are however rumours of other venues starting to flex their blues muscles at least on a small scale. More to come.
The Harmonie German Club had reduced its hours of operation and has been closed altogether on Sundays and Mondays.
Consequently the August jam has been officially cancelled and both Narrabundah College and the CBS are disappointed that the fine tradition of the Youth in Blues Jam has had this hiccup. Good news is the HGC is now trading seven days a week again.
Everyone is looking forward to conditions being suitable for jams as soon as possible. No final decision has been made about the September jam yet. We will keep you informed of developments.
Marysville Music Weekend joins the long list of festivals cancelling this year. Mitchell Creek is going ahead with a Qld line-up and of course restricted to Queenslanders. News is Peter Noble’s Bluesfest will go ahead next Easter.
Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions, Claude Hay and Lachy Doley have decided to reschedule their tours until next year. We are hoping restrictions are eased by December to allow Geoff Achison’s Keller Sessions show to go ahead on Thursday 3rd December.
Congratulations to Charlie Bedford who has just been appointed Youth Ambassador for Blues Music Victoria. Well done young man.
A big thank you to all those who have renewed their memberships so far. Please remind anyone you know who hasn’t done this yet. To entice you all to rejoin, we have a fabulous cigar box guitar (generously donated to us by STGuitars) to give away to a lucky member who renews their membership.
The AGM is currently scheduled for October; final date to be advised. Please consider nominating for the committee and the executive positions. I am reliably informed that some of the current committee will be leaving so we will need new interested and talented recruits to the cause.
Until next month
Steve Hartnett – Acting President CBS
