Canberra Blues Society present the Simon Kinny-Lewis Band with Andy Just (USA) and Darren Jack.
Simon Kinny-Lewis takes the audience with him on a seismic journey of compelling, blues guitar – along with a voice that Steve Lukather (Toto, Michael Jackson), describes as being similar to American blues star Joe Bonamassa.
He has performed/ recorded with the cream of the crop of Blues – Robben Ford, Brett Garsed, Chris Cain, Nate Ginsberg (Herbie Hancock), Christian Howes, and many more.
Simon has produced 6 albums to date with his previous solo album “Catfish” and band album “ A Day In San Jose ” both reaching # 1 on The Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Charts and was recognised at the official Australian Blues Music Chain’ Awards 2019 as “ Best New Blues Artist ”.
Simon’s band has one of Australia’s most respected and finest rhythm sections, Tony Boyd – Drums (Josh Smith, Eric Steckel, Kate Lush ) and Rob Ewan – Bass (Josh Smith, Eric Steckel, Karen Lee Andrews and more)
Their original brand of contemporary blues and rock has created a loyal fan-base of guitar enthusiasts around the globe and has been endorsed by such notables as Steve Lukather (Toto) and Blues master Chris Cain, who invited Simon to play with him in California.
“Simon Kinny-Lewis (SKL) is the full package. His guitar playing is up there with the best guitarists of today” – BluesRockReview 2019.
Multiple award-winning Blues artist Darren Jack has been electrifying audiences with his signature powerhouse Rock ‘n’ Blues and original music for the last twenty years. Jack has taken out 5 Australian Blues Music Awards and has won the Sydney Blues Challenge twice, representing Australia in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee in 2013 and 2015.
His music will take you from blistering, gut wrenching blues to smooth melodies that will soothe your soul. Jack’s honesty and commitment are the real deal.
In the finest of West Coast blues harmonica traditions, Andy Just (USA) has been thrilling audiences internationally with his explosive performances. His sound is extremely powerful, and innovative, which has been honed by many years of playing, and touring. Andy is well known in Europe and Australia where he often entertains thousands at large blues festivals.
Without a doubt, Andy is the most powerful harp player to come along since James Cotton, and while he can emulate Sonny Boy Williamson one minute and Charlie Parker the next, the fact is that Andy Just is an original, an innovator, and enthralling to catch live. Andy Just drives the blues with fire — from the south side of Chicago, to the murky depths of the Delta, and all the way home.
Over the years this blues harp veteran has had an opportunity to play with some of the greats… B.B. King, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Paul Butterfield, Roy Rogers, Ronnie Wood, Robben Ford, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Albert Collins, Ronnie Earl, Jimmy Witherspoon, Junior Wells, Chris Cain, Tommy Castro, John Mayall, Paul Rogers, Joe Lewis Walker, and many others. Andy has been the front man for the Ford Blues Band for over a decade.
Both Guitarists will be reuniting with Andy Just performing songs including Simon’s recently recorded ‘A Day In San Jose’ and his soon to be released ‘Another Day In San Jose’ album featuring some of the biggest names in American Blues – Robben Ford, Dewayne Pate, Nate Ginsberg.
Simon Kinny-Lewis, Andy Just, Darren Jack, Tony Boyd & Rob Ewan. To see and hear these guys perform together is an experience not to be missed.
